-home [news]===--- - - - --- - - -- - - - 8-25-2007 A pretty big update this time. Tons of new photos. Enjoy a peak around the world, a few times..seriously. 7-11-2007 Whew! been awhile since I last posted. More than a year! Quite a few things have happened since the last update: I suffered a catastrophic hard-drive crash and lost all the work I put into developing script and things for this site. I also lost a TON of source photos I used to develop the photography section :( What this all means is that in order to add new music to the site, I'll have to go back through and recatalog ALL of my music again and rewrite all the extraction scripts to get the info out of the music. BOO! Since that didn't take all that long in the first place, why didn't I just go ahead and do it? Check out the photo section and I think you'll see why. Not long after the harddrive crash, I took a new job that has had be traveling around the world at least 4 times already! I'll be processing and putting up photos as soon as possible. The first set is done, Baghdad, Iraq! This is a huge photo collection that I hope ya'll will take some interest in seeing. Enjoy! 5-27-2006 Some new stuff up under Opiate, Kombo and Chaos Theory. I'm planning a much larger update soonish and I'm just prepping the files for now. Hopefully this will tide everybody off for a spell till I can get the new updates all ready. I also have some pictures I need to get up and ready soonish. Some great stuff. 5-6-2006 Finally! Alright, it's been ages but the wait was worth it. I put up a music disk "Intertribal" under the Chaos Theory section. Some of it is my better stuff and it falls under a mix of styles so if you don't find something you like at first, try the rest. For fun I put the development tracks up as well under the "Unfinished, Rejected, Prototypes" or URP as I'm apt to call the section. Enjoy! 4-10-2006 Some new stuff under mostly Terraformer, but you'll find a bit more here and there. 4-5-2006 Added a links section. Because I'm horribly lazy, I've had Google generate the links for me. Rah Rah! I've also managed to finish up a complete rewrite of "Through Children's Eyes" which I'll put up as soon as I'm satisfied it's actually really really done. 3-19-2006 A bunch of new songs. Mostly under the Chaos Theory group but you'll find some under KOMBO, Terraformer and others. Updated the playlist also! The updates are going a bit easier now that I reorg'd a bunch of stuff on my local machine. This update took quite a bit less time than I thought. 3-12-2006 Ok, Real Life (TM) = teh sux0rs. I've finally gotten around to doing a major update. Quite a few new songs, mainly from my Terraformer days and my Chaos Theory days. I'm getting ready for a much larger update soon (talked about last update). I have most of my songs indexed and mp3'd, now I just need to get the html generated and I'll put them up! 2-26-2006 Ack! I know that it's been..<checking> 15 days!? since the last update. Apologies all around. But I've been doing some internal organizing as of late that should help smooth out some of the update process and help me to get my discography up sooner rather than later. Also, I have tons of other non-music stuff to put up and I'll be needing to get all that organized, catalogued etc. Sorry for the dearth of new music. I put up a tune just to keep ya'll interested, see if you can find it! Also, finally got around to putting up a little "about me". I hate making those things (they always sound so narcissistic) but I figure people want to know about who's making this trash anyway. 2-11-2006 I put up a few more WIP tunes as well as some other songs. Notably a goa tune for goa lovers. I never made too many of them to enjoy it if you like the genre. There is a couple of buzz files there with that tune, though they aren't what I would call "real" buzz songs. I just used buzz and the tracker generator as a real-time effect processor. The mp3s of the buzz versions sound a bit different than the Impulse Tracker versions. Also some internal revisions. I know that I've been very lazy in putting up song descriptions and WIP reasons and such and I promise I'll eventually get around to it. 2-9-2006 I actually had a set of releases ready awhile ago but got sidelined by Real Life (TM). Anyways, I've been working on organizing my WIP section a bit more so that I can bring those releases up to a better parity with the release section. There are actually a few more WIP tunes than release tunes but I'm releasing them way slower. Anyways, I've updated the WIP section and added afew more songs to the Releases section. I'm also working on a new Blog piece so we'll see if I ever get it done. Enjoy! 1-31-2006 Finally a decent set of releases for the people who come here for the music. Some exciting things here, an unentered NAID '96 tune in the NAID '96 section called "Unimaginable Power" (also logged in under the Terraformer group), an unreleased soundtrack to a cancelled 3STF demo, one of the BMP Compo 2 entries called "A Direction" under the KOMBO brand and finally two ancient adlib only s3m's released under Terraformer. Enjoy! ooh! and I updated the master playlist for the whole site. W00t! 1-30-2006 A few more songs are up, in the Kombo section an unreleased tune called "45 Minutes of Fame" and in the Terraformer and Opiate sections a Cross Group release called 20 bubs in a zhweel. Many more to come! 1-27-2006 And a bunch more photos are up! That should be it for a while photowise. Check out the mega section on South Korea! 1-26-2006 A big update, but not for music. I'm putting up a bunch of processed photography that I've taken with my cheap digital camera. Enjoy it all in the new Photography section. I promise I'll get away from this slight digression so that I can put some more music up! Just taking a quick break. 1-22-2006 A small update. Only one song. I *almost* had another ready to go but it's late and I have to get up early. Coming soon, some photography. Nothing fancy, I'm not much of a photographer but maybe interesting to a few folks, stuff from all over the U.S. and Korea! I'm still processing/choosing/organizing the photos but it'll be a nice addition to my site when it's up. 1-19-2006 Fairly big update today. A few songs added to the Chaos Theory section (unreleased woo! so never before heard!), as well as some Audic releases. I've also updated the WIP section with a few more tunes from my time w/Terraformer. As a result of all the new additions, I've also updated the playlists. As usual, mp3s up for all. 1-14-2006 Ack! Stupid Real Life (tm) interfering with my releases! Anyways I added a few things included the many mixes of Kanamon worms. I also fleshed out a couple of sections and included more group info. 1-10-2006 A coupla new entries under the releases. One is a cheesy old tune I did as a Terraformer member called Mr. Wordsworth. The other is a sample showcase called Section Ng. Enjoy! I'll be updating the playlist soon after I put a few more things up. 1-9-2006 A few cosmetic changes in the WIP section. Now you can tell my group affiliation when I made that snippit. Fun! Also I put a couple more WIP tunes up. 1-8-2006 *update* A few more WIP tunes are up as well as some misc tunes. Enjoy I finally collected everything I needed for a little side project I've been working on - a NAID '96 memory page. Check it out. Having a giant ego, of course the entire thing is focused on my participation at NAID. Enjoy! The montage clip is pretty fun too. 1-7-2006 Finally some more tunes! I put up my Terraformer era music disk "The Land" done with Future Crew's music disk maker tool thingy. The software doesn't really work on modern win32 OSs but I pulled out the songs and did the mp3 magic on them. Some of it is my more... experiemental work. I dunno if I really like all of them but a few have grown on me over time. 1-5-2006 Whew! 3 days since the last update. I've been a bit tied up with real life (TM) stuff for a while. No new songs but something else that's fun. A poor man's stream radio of sorts. Basically it's just a winamp playlist of all the songs on the site. Let me know if there are any problems. I'm working on a few more variations of the list and I'll try and keep the playlists updated as I update the rest of the site. 1-2-2006 Noticing that the WIP section was looking a little spare, I've put up a few things. Enjoy the sounds of ill-advised, broken, poorly written and abortive projects! 1-1-2006 I've put up some more tunes. This time, my MC2 entry is up (though it didn't do so hot coming in 27th in the veteran division), one of my CT tunes called Introspected Monastary, and an Audic release called Living, again and again. Gosh the holidays are great for free time! 12-31-2005 As a little New Year's present, I've put up my very oldest stuff. I know I talked about this yesterday, but I got around to writing an .mtm extractor and used it. Every song I've written (and still have), before I joined my first real group, I've put up. mp3 goodness of coz. Enjoy! 12-30-2005 Alright, at long last I've started to put up my old stuff. And I mean my really old stuff -- including my very first song ever! Right now they are under the "Groupless" section but I'll update the releases page tomorrow sometime. mp3s for all. The .mtm songs will take a while longer to be up since I need to write an extractor for that format. 12-29-2005 Apparently I need to pay attention more and check to see if the mp3s are getting up alright. A few of them are getting truncated so I'm reupping some. So far on the list are: The 7 Microns Dreamstate Iron Ra (actually wrong bitrate) So if you were trying to listen to these and thought "hey, these songs are kinda short and they stop suddenly" that's why. I also added a bunch more mp3s to the rejected/incomplete section of "The 4 Winds". 12-28-2005 I put up In the System, my first entry in the Groupless category of tunes made while I was sans group. 12-27-2005 I've added some mp3s for some of the Incomplete songs under "The 4 Winds". I also updated the Incomplete Combustable Rain (remix) as it had an error in the module that would foul up the playback when the remix started. I also added two releases: Subject #9 (radio edit) and Upon My Soul 12-26-2005 Strange how hours of work can seem like so little. I've converted my blogspot blog over to here and I'll probably be ending that. I've also setup the WIP which is a bit of a misnomer but it'll have to do. Basically, as I've been going through and cataloguing all my music, I've come across a few hundred songs that I never finished, I'll be dumping them there rather than putting them up in the releases section. Also poke around the releases section for some new releases. 12-23-2005 A bunch of minor organizational changes and a few releases. I've added a Terraformer release, a Kombo release, reorganized the 0.020 releases which has come of a result of me more or less finishing the task of categorizing and the beginning of cataloging all my stuff. Turns out I have several "versions" of the same songs. My binary compare tool says they are different files so there must be something different that I just can't tell upon first look. So I've decided that for the sake of completeness, I'll release them all. However, I'm only planning on putting up mp3 versions of the definitive releases. For example, if I have a full sample size version of a song, and a "small version" (meaning the samples were resized to make the song smaller at a time when people were still using dial-up) I'll put an mp3 up of only the larger sample version (read: hi-quality version). I'm also planning on moving my blog over to here, it's nothing fancy but I think that I'd like to keep everything together in one place and make this more than just a release point for my old music. This being a holiday weekend, keep checking back for tons of new updates. 12-22-2005 I re-upped the "Singular Expand" mp3 as a 128kps file to keep in line with everything else that's up. For some reason I had it as a 256kps version. Big. :( 12-19-2005 Finally a fairly recent tune (2001) to enjoy. One of my last scene releases before my temporary retirement when I belonged to Coplan's Audic group...Trace Thoughts. 12-18-2005 As it turns out, S3Ms are a bit harder to parse out than Impulse Tracker files. But I managed to get a cataloging tool working so I can finally start putting up some of my older stuff (once I get MTM's and MOD's to work then I can put up my REALLY old stuff). To celebrate this, I'm putting up my first entry under my first group Terraformer. There really is nothing like your first demogroup - it's exciting and fun and everything seems possible. Every production teaches you about your limitations while simultaneously surpassing them. In the light, the first song I'm putting up is my semi-famous chip tune Dual Complex. It took 1st at the NAID '96 chip tune compo and I credit that to its using only 2 channels instead of the max of 4. Modern trackers really have a hard time understanding the point of channel limits with all their new fangled software. But back in my day, a decent song in two channels (and under 30k) was a technical tour de force. I'm still very proud of that win as the winnings from the compo paid for my trip to NAID. 12-17-2005 I've put up my first release from Kombo. That was a fun group to be apart of and I chose my second release under them. A song called Singular Expand. I've put it up as an MP3 and I've put up and MP3 version of 0.020. 12-15-2005 And now the rest of "The 4 Winds" directions are up as MP3s. The B-sides stuff is not up just yet. Also apparently there is a vandalism war between a user "Slate" and "Nlu" concerning my entry in Wikipedia. I don't know who either one is, but my user page is now marked as a sock puppet by Nlu for this Slate user. Personally, I don't care much for Wikipedia's way of doing things and I'm happy to have just a userpage, but if you think that I should have a page on the 'pedia, make an entry for me! I'd like some third parties to get involved! As a matter of fact, lets all work to flesh out the "tracker" page! 12-14-2005 Apparently somebody went through the trouble to make a Wikipedia entry about me. Well, actually they just copied my user page and updated it a smidge. Thanks to whoever! I'm flattered! In other news, I've added an MP3 version of "The Focus Stone". For all you who are tracker impared this might be an alternative. I've begun converting all the "The 4 Winds" tracks to MP3 and will be updating as I have time. 12-11-2005 Okay, so maybe I'm not entirely spent. I organized the "The 4 Winds" releases onto the release page, that might make navigation a little more clear and quick if you don't want to visit the actual music disk page. I also added the first non-disk release "0.020" from my time with the group "Chaos Theory" (for fun there is an unreleased version of the same song up as well. 12-9-2005 And I'm spent. The entire "The 4 Winds" disk is up. I've also included some interesting goodies such as the original artwork, rejected songs and incomplete songs (with reasons!). Enjoy! 12-8-2005 The "North" section of "The 4 Winds" is up! I wrote a little script to help automate much of the process of making the various parts of each page. Woo! Perl=Dope. Enjoy! 12-7-2005 The first releases are up! Sorta! It's actually the "East" portion of my "The 4 Winds" music disk circa 1997. If you've never heard of it it's probably because it was never actually released (and neither were most of the songs for that matter). It actually has some pretty good music IMHO for the time. A few of the songs were repackaged and released by themselves but much of this music has not been heard in the scene at large. The history of the disk is a long one and ultimately too complicated to get into in any detail (or at least the details I remember). Suffice it to say that it was intended to be released as a win32 application (it would have been one of the first demoscene apps to run in Windows). Artwork was done up (I'll be putting up all the original artwork files after I get the rest of the music up), a programmer was acquired and work set off. Before too long real-life (tm) interfered and my programmer had to stop work. By that time the disk had been in development for quite some time and I felt that the music would be too dated by the time I secured another win32 capable programmer who could handle the task. So it was shelved. In an effort to bring my humble dream to some sort of zombie-like life, I've recreated most of the original interface and artwork for this site. All the links should work, just...well...most of the other cardinal directions don't have anything up yet. They should soon though as I archive and index everything for those songs. You'll notice that when you click on a song you get an info page with download links, info links, sample lists etc. That way you can see all the comments and "artwork" that may exist in the files before you download. To save myself some direct embarrassment, I fixed a few obvious errors in spelling and grammar (for example, my propensity to spell "original" as "origional"...go fig.). You'll also notice that there are some inactive links for MP3 and OGG download. I intend to someday make those active by actually making the MP3 and OGG files in case somebody wants to listen and doesn't have a proper player. This should generally be the format for all the future releases on this site. Enjoy! Disk East of The 4 Winds can get be found here. 12-4-2005 So here it is, at last. A home for my stuff. Big thanks to the guys at untergrund.net for the space! I'm currently working on indexing and preparing all of my music to put up here. It's a large task. Expect to see everything from music disks to individual releases, old stuff and what may be interesting to some people, unfinished work. Why unfinished? Well, the tracking community gave an awful lot to me for many years. I found that one of the best ways to learn was to look at other people's music. However, seeing the "correct" way to make something is not always the best way to learn. Often it is the mistakes that teach the most. While it may be embarrasing to a point to release these "stillborn" tracks, I hope that they are instructive to some up and coming trackers. Keep an eye out here for info on new releases and check out the "releases" section for downloads! The WIP section will eventually contain songs that I'm currently working on. -El Blanco out- -- --- - --- - -- -- - ---[goto TOP]- -- - - - - -whoami -Blog -releases -WIP -Streaming Radio -NAID '96 -Photography -Links
